Today, I feel like I am going out of my mind. I went to my knitting group and I feel a little better. I finished my pair of Tofutsie socks last night. I really like this yarn. At first, I wasn't sure about it, but then it grew on me. I purchased 4 more skeins! I started a new pair of socks last night before going to bed. I was trying to wait until Sock Therapy on Sunday, but there is something comforting about knitting socks. Lately, I have been needing just that...a little comfort. I have been feeling horrible. Last week, my dr increased the dose of my advair for the next 2 months. Apparently, this is the time when almonds and other fruits are harvested here. Yep, they're knocking the trees. I also have a nose spray to use at night and my bp was high so now I am on bp medicine. He couldn't evalute me for fibromyalgia citing my shoulder injury that is being treated elsewhere as the reason that he cannot evaluate me. The xrays from my back are fine so still no explanation for the pain shooting down my legs. Thankfully, that has been getting a little better. Oh yeah, and I forgot, there are no ovarian cysts, but my uterin lining is abnormally thick.....well, hello, I have been dianosed with endometriosis. It's in my file. I had emergency surgery. The surgeon was afraid that I was not going to make it. They removed mutiple adhesions and a ruptured ovarian cyst. The biopsy came back that it was endometrial tissue, so I am absolutely certain that I have endometriosis. Okay, I just need to stop ranting about that. I just feel pretty crappy and I have been trying to space out some of my medicines because I have horrible heartburn when I take them together. I don't know which ones are the culprits, but I am taking the new ones earlier. So far so good today.
As if the medical problems aren't enough, the reason that I am feeling insane is that there are truly selfish and cruel people in our lives. Sometimes it feels as if I can't knit enough to stay sane. I am thankful for DH. He is my rock. I am thankful for dear friends at my knitting group and the nice people that work at the bakery. Well, I am going to go knit...I hope that your day is so much better than mine!!!!

Is it too hot to knit??
Well here it is 109 F today. Is it too hot to knit? In my opinion it is never too hot or too cold to knit! You, however, should take precautions. Here are some signs of heat exhaustion:
Treatment for heat exhaustion is involves several cooling measures:
To try to stay cool, DH and I went to knitting today at a local Starbucks. I got a shakened iced green tea and DH got a green tea frappacino. We also purchased a bottle of Ethos water to share. I knitted with friends for a couple of hours. The Starbucks tend to keep their establishments very cool so it is a nice place for public knitting in the heat.
It is supposed to be hot all week. Try to stay cool!!!
- Heavy Sweating
- Paleness
- Headache
- Nausea and vomiting

Return of the Knitter aka Sock Wars continued!
Car problems forced me to miss Sock Therapy yesterday. As stress increased, DH and I watched Ninja Warriors.
I wanted to work on the sock. I couldn't let the sock win. I took out the pattern and knitted. I used the force and actually made a heel flap! Now that heel flap has turned into a heel. Yes, the force is strong with this one!!!! I wish that it would help out with the car.....

Sock Wars
Well, I have a goal to someday learn to make socks. A real sock with a heel and everything. I have collected a small stash of sock yarn. Who can resist that self patterning fingering weight??? I even have some Imagination handpainted sock yarn from Knit Picks called Wicked Witch.
I started an ankle sock from a Bernat Free Pattern leaflet last Monday at Sock Therapy, my local knitting group's sock only meeting. I managed to cast on and work the k1p1 ribbing in the pattern. My sock was slowly starting to take shape. Unfortunately that shape would fit on both of my feet at the same time!!! I haven't finished the body of the sock yet, so I frogged the sucker. I just finished casting on the next smaller size in the pattern and knitting a few k1p1 rows.
I have Sock Therapy again tomorrow evening. Will I ever get to the heel?? Am I doomed to forever be knitting tube socks for the rest of my life?? Help me Obi Won Kenobi, you are my only hope!!!!

Knitting is good for your health!
I know from personal experience that knitting helps manage stress and pain. Here is a wonderful video that boasts the powerful health benefits of knitting and crocheting, the most impressive of which is a 30-50 percent improvement in memory for the elderly.

Bank Fees
I knitted on my lace shawl today at knitting group. It would probably go faster if I would stop petting the alpaca lace weight! Later in the day, we decided to check into banks that have no fees. If you live in CA or TX, check out Guaranty Bank!

Still reeling from trip!
I am suffering from knitting withdrawal. I knitted 1 row on the flight there on Sunday and I knitted a little in the airport yesterday before we boarded the flight. I got a few a few odd looks. I mean it is a scarf for goodness sakes!
First of all, what is knitting? Well, you take pointy sticks and string and make fabric. Who in their right mind would attack a knitter? Not to say that I was attacked in any way on my trip or at any other time, I am just on a philosophical rant! Knitters are in no way helpless. They have knitting needles and a knitting bag. My knitting bag weighs at least 10 lbs on it's lightest day. My DH calls it a bag of holding!
Well, I am off to work!

Inspiration and Knitting Self Defense or the Beginning
I have spent the last 3 days on our Honeymoon in Los Vegas. We married in early May and received a 3 night stay at The Jockey Club from my Maid of Honor,Barbie, her Mom and Step Dad. It was an awesome gift! We purchased plane tickets from Allegiant Air. Check them out if you are planning a trip the Vegas!
As I said I am back home now. All the the hustle and bustle made me stop and think: Last week, I was joking with my DH about an idea, Knitting and The Subtle Art of Self Defense. He attended my knitting group with me although he does not knit. We knocked around pattern ideas and defense styles. So this is the humble beginnings of Knitting and the Subtle Art of Self Defense!
